What consumes your mind, controls your life.
In the 21st Century where day to day life is fast-paced, where our senses are constantly exposed to different kinds of distraction, where the "norm" is becoming to live through our smart phones and digital media, the need to escape is becoming more and more important.
The kind of escapism we are talking about does not involve two week holidays or an expensive visit to the cinema, our escapism dates back centuries - Meditation.
At the Shaolin Temple Cheshunt when the large red gates are shut you have the feeling that you could be anywhere. Day or night, look up and all you see is the tree tops and the sky.
Every Monday evening for the next four weeks, the Student Room to the right of the Main Hall is transformed into a space of solitude and tranquility .
As dusk falls, the candle light creates an atmosphere of peace and calm. The numbers are limited to ten and for those wishing to take part there is an opportunity to practise Meditation. Whether or not you have practised meditation before, the group will centre their collective energy on focusing the mind, being aware of the Chi and visualising images that instill inner peace.
For further details contact the Shaolin Temple.
